kahu creations
Founders and sisters, Ana and Erana Aiono are proud to be of both Samoan and Māori heritage. We are inspired by indigenous fashion movements and enjoy incorporating and blending cultures into their one-of-a-kind creations. We create "Kahu" or cultural adornments that are inspired by Māori cloaks called Korowai. These creations are worn to represent the love of our ancestors, always protected in their embrace.
The creation of each piece is a labor of love, a piece of art, a sacred connection between us and the world of creation. We meticulously weave together significant materials, from feathers to flax, turquoise to textile. Infusing fashion with cultural stories and significance.
We believe that everyone deserves to wear something that can represent being wrapped in the mana (power) of the ancestors who watch over them.
If you have ancestors, you can wear our Kahu, and we'd love to be a part of that connection.
